This was set up to save abandoned or orphaned wild elephants and to prevent them from extinction (Especially tuskers). This is the only place in Sri Lanka where you can see many elephants in closed quarters.

Udawalawe which is situated just south of the hill country is the best place to see pachyderms (wild Asian elephants) in the wild. It is the largest national park in Sri Lanka and you can see a large population of elephants.

The reserve covers 30821 hectares of land area and was established in 1972.

Enjoyable for a safari tour to visit the large gathering of elephants in Udawalawe National Park.

After having breakfast, transfer (1 Hour) to the Polonnaruwa ancient city visit(Duration: 2 Hours). Polonnaruwa (UNESCO world heritage site) is one major highlight of the cultural triangle and enjoyed a brief century of the Sinhalese kingdom, the 12th century.

After visit Polonnaruwa, transfer to Minneriya or Kaudulla National Park for the evening safari to visit the large gathering of elephants.
